Hello fam,
With the draft this week I wanted to cover the process for promoting your drafted NCAA players to your NFL roster and cover any potential roster decisions you may need to make.
Drafted Players
In the days following the draft, any NCAA players you own that are selected in the 2022 NFL Draft will automatically be promoted to your NFL roster. I will take care of this process in both Fantrax and your Google Doc. Please see the rules for the breakdown of contract terms for players drafted.
- Following the draft, you will have the ability to terminate a drafted player's contract without penalty until Sunday, May 15th at 5:00 PM EST. After that time, any drafted player who is terminated will follow the normal 50% cap hit penalty for the life cycle of their contract.
Undrafted Players
Any player who is not returning to school for the 2022 season and goes undrafted will remain on your NCAA roster until Sunday, August 14th at 5:00 PM EST. At that time, if they have not signed an NFL contract or been signed to an NFL practice squad, they will be release into the Free Agent pool.
Any player who is not drafted in the 2022 NFL draft and then signs a contract with an NFL team or signs to an NFL practice squad following the draft can be added to your NFL team once the player is signed. In order for this to happen, you MUST NOTIFY ME PRIOR TO SUNDAY, AUGUST 14TH in order to maintain the players rights. If no notification is sent, the player will enter the free agent pool at that time. You can notify me by posting to the appropriate folder here in Proboards. Please remember, NO GUEST POSTS, you must log in to post anything here on Proboards.
Red Shirt Rookies
Similar to last year, you are allowed to Red Shirt 10 rookies on your NFL roster. These players do not count towards your roster limits or cap hit. Keep in mind that once a player is removed from his redshirt status, he can no longer be placed back into redshirt status, and you lose that redshirt spot. The only exception to this is during the off-season during the time period between the NFL Draft and the below Red Shirt deadline.
You will have until Monday, September 5th to redshirt your rookies. You can designate a player for redshirt status by placing them into your "minors" slot in Fantrax. On that day, I will go through and update the master sheet with the players designated for redshirt status.
Off-Season Rosters
Following the process of promoting NCAA players to your NFL roster, you are allowed to exceed the NFL roster max, however, once free agency begins, in order to place a bid on a free agent YOU MUST have the available roster spot and cap space for the player you are bidding on at the time the bid is placed.
Please let me know if there are any questions.
Thank you.
