As you may have seen, Travis Hunter from Jackson State was nominated for recruitment and won by USC.
Jackson State is a school that Fantrax does not track stats for, therefore making Hunter and anyone from Jackson State or similar schools unavailable during the season. Earlier this week a question was presented to me in the discord chat asking if players not yet in the fantrax database were eligible for nomination. My understanding was that this question was in regards to the message atop the Fantrax homepage that reads:
"Welcome to your 2022 College Football league! Please note that incoming Freshmen and Transfers will be populated by our stat provider to your league's player pool by mid-August (after Fall practice begins and those players are added by the schools to their team's official rosters).
If a player is not appearing in your league's player pool, it means
a) Player (normally an incoming Freshman or Transfer) is not yet on the school's official 2022 team roster, or
b) our stat provider has not updated the team's roster since that player was added to the school's official 2022 roster
Again, you can expect the majority of these players to appear in your league's pool by mid-August.
Players who are no longer playing college football will be removed from your league's available player pool by our stat provider over the Summer. Note that any player no longer playing college football who is currently rostered by a manager must be manually dropped by the manager. No rostered players will be automatically removed.
As with any season, we recommend not holding your draft until as late as possible (no earlier than mid August and preferably late August) to make sure you have the most complete player pool from which to draft. Also note that leagues default to begin with the first FULL week of the season. If you would like to use the August 27 (Week 0) games in your league, the league Commissioner can select that as your season start Period in league setup. Enjoy the season!"
My answer was not clear and left for massive interpretation which led to this is issue. The rules do not clearly state if it is or is not allowed. Upon the answer and throughout the bidding process of Hunter, no one asked if this was or was not allowed.
With all of this in mind, the rules committee has decided to allow the Hunter nomination and winning bid by USC to stand.
Effective immediately, no longer will players who play at schools not represented in the fantrax database be allowed to be recruited in this recruiting period. A decision on further recruiting periods will be made at a later date.
If you have a question about a specific player or team, please ask.
Thank you
